Yellow Columbine (Aquilegia)

Aquila from the Latin word for eagle because the petals are said to look like an eagle’s claw. The common name, Columbine, comes from the Latin word for dove as the inverted flower resembles five birds clustered together.

Hearty perennial.  Start indoors 6-8 weeks prior to last frost or direct-seed when the soil is warm in part-shade. Once established, the plants are drought tolerant.  Seedlings are small and leaves resemble clover.
